CHALLENGE • INSPIRE • CONNECT
Challenge, Inspire and Connect with the hands-on skills, knowledge and strategies provided in PAC workshops. Originated in the philosophies and teachings of one of America’s leading educators on dementia, Teepa Snow. Her specific curriculum and training are built on the Positive Approach to Care® methodology that will transform what currently exists into a positive dementia care culture.
Learners will understand and recognize the difference between “normal” and “not normal” aging.
The GEM’S® philosophy, also developed by Teepa Snow, provides information on how to classify and define the changes in a person due to the effects of dementia
This is the first step in creating compassionate relationships. It provides a way to connect with people, visually and verbally. PPA asks the question, "Can you except a connection from me right now?" and respectfully accepts the answer or offers an alternative.
The Postive Approach® to Care program, developed by Teepa Snow, emphasizes making use of the skills retained by the individual with dementia while providing support and substituting the caregiver's skill for what is no longer available. Nathan Kirschenbaum is a PAC Certified Independent Trainer Licensed to teach the copywritten curriculum.
